Description of the ARTRAC Sensor available

ARTRAC has published the public description of the 24GHz automotive radar sensor developed in the project. This sensor is equipped with a new transmit/receive antenna which has a larger aperture and a multichannel receiver compared to conventional sensors.

Successful Final Event in Ehra

As the project is coming to an end, the end results of ARTRAC were successfully presented in the proving ground of Volkswagen in Ehra near Wolfsburg on 26 September 2014. The team first presented the project results in short presentations but the highlight was the offer for participants to take test rides on the two demonstration cars.

Final ARTRAC event in Ehra

Since November 1, 2011 the Advanced Radar Tracking and Classification for Enhanced Road Safety (ARTRAC) consortium has worked on developing a radar system to detect vulnerable road users as well as vehicles based on a single 24 GHz radar sensor. The functionality of the prototype will be demonstrated on compact class vehicles.

First sensor tests conducted on proving ground in Ehra

In September 2013 the first sensor tests have been conducted with the ARTRAC sensor in operation. These tests took place in Volkswagen’s proving ground in Ehra, located close to Wolfsburg/ Germany the VW headquarters. This is a big progress step and milestone in the research and development activities.

First Laboratory Measurements with 24 GHz ARTRAC Radar Sensor

The prototype of the ARTRAC radar sensor is operational now! First measurements under laboratory conditions have been performed. The radar sensor measures target range and radial velocity simultaneously even in dense and multiple target situations. The measurement results are shown in a matrix with different ranges and different radial velocities.
